This Commentary is concise and helpful, but in some areas feels like it lacks some depth. A good first reference, but room for other interpretation. Goldingay's work seems the most insightful, but 3 volumes are quite expensive.

A great geology book.

This is the first geology book I have studied. It seems to be fairly complete for an introductory text. The pictures and graphics are excellent and the text easy to follow. A point that needs to be mentioned is that the authors repeat a lot of things multiple times. This is a good thing. It negates the need to go back and look stuff up that was forgotten or missed somehow. Repetition is the key to learning. The authors have done very well in this regard.

it took forever for them to finally talk openly

Estranged wife sees her husband Hero again after she suddenly left him 3 years before. They have to pretend to be happily married to find the culprit who's planning on sabotaging the royalty of a little European kingdom. Their work together shows them they still have strong feelings for each other. But heroine can see that Hero is still very much married to his military career. Hero on the other hand still doesn't understand why she left what he thought was a good marriage. When will these 2 openly talk about what happened in the past?

It took until page 142 for Hero & heroine to finally talk about why she left him 3 years ago. For 141 pages, they tiptoed around the issue. Their marriage must've been based on sex & niceties if these 2 couldn't even talk about why she left for weeks when they say each other again & not even considering the 3 years that passed when they could've emailed or phoned or wrote each other. Heroine wanted Hero to prove she meant more to him than his military job by chasing after her when she left him. But he didn't because of his pride & this strange sense of respecting her space. So she keeps her miscarriage & her feelings about being abandoned by Hero due to his job a secret all that time. While Hero kept his love & waiting for heroine to go back to him all to himself too. These 2 were driving me nuts with their passivity & secret pinings! The sexual chemistry was good but it was pretty much the only thing going for them. The only other thing I liked about these 2 were that both remained celibate during their 3-year estrangement.

The action-suspense parts were predictable & uninteresting. They seem like page-fillers & gave an excuse for the main characters to see each other again. Overall pacing dragged.

Tycoon Warrior is a book by Sheri Whitefeather in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Lone Star Jewels series. Dakota Lewis, ex-soldier, is still involved in dangerous missions. And it was during such a mission that his wife, Kathy left him. But she has never told him why, and she is beginning to feel guilty about that. For one thing, she still loves him. For another, she might just be asking something of Dakota that is unreasonable. This is a somewhat tedious romance that pivots on the lack of communication between husband and wife. The hero is rather too perfect; the heroine, simply frustrating. It is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. It would have benefitted from some judicious editing. Mediocre.

The story drags

This is the second story in this series that was like this: there is no communication between the main characters and the story drags out until it is almost painful. No... it was painful! I kept hoping that there was more to the story than regrets and sadness, but I ended up pretty disappointed. Especially at the end with the way the characters reacted to something very important that would affect the rest of their lives. I want to say more, but I don't want to give out spoilers... so I'll say I should have went with my gut and passed on this one. 2 1/2 stars

Through the Veil

If you are interested in the "What if" and "What would it be like" in regards to the after life, then this book offers a beautiful and thoughtful vision of what that might be...Highly recommended and I intend to read it to my older relatives as they approach Crossing the Veil themselves. Beautifully non-denominational and transcends the dogma or restrictions of specific spiritual traditions but encompasses all with warmth and love. A God of truth and love could only smile at this travelogue of his "house of many mansions."

Real life magician !

Make no mistake about it: Malcolm Lowry was an OCCULT novelist of genius. And one of the first to appreciate this was Perle Epstein. Other biographers have drawn attention to this fact but even Douglas Day only devoted two or three pages to the mighty influence upon Lowry of Aleister Crowley's magical son Charles Stansfeld Jones (Frater Achad ). Achad's speciality was the Kabbala and his two little works QBL or the Bride's Reception and The Anatomy of the Body of God were huge helps to Malcolm when he completed the final draft of his undoubted masterpiece Under the Volcano. Indeed, Jones, rightly or wrongly, had claimed the high occult status of the Magister Templi grade in Crowley's Argenteum Astrum order which involved the crossing of the Abyss high up on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life . Perhaps Jones succeeded in doing this (he was much nicer in tone than his magical father!) as I myself did way into my own occult career (c/r Black Pilgrimage in Dr G Speaks). But Lowry's Consul, another Geoffrey (Firmin) absolutely failed to do this in the delirium-ridden climax of Volcano, thereby falling into the Abyss and its chasm of Hell !!!
What makes Lowry such a brilliant and pertinent teacher of the Kabbalistic occult, even after such a brief period of tuition from Jones, is the way he fuses the grandest, most epic occult concepts with the often hellish enough trials and tribulations of mundane, material life. One learns so much more from this than from abstract, impersonal occult tomes even alleged classics like those of Jones himself.
It is to Epstein's credit that this work charts such a crucial role.

Marilyn Stokstad, teacher, art historian, and museum curator, has been a leader in her field for decades and has served as president of the College Art Association and the International Center of Medieval Art. In 2002, she was awarded the lifetime achievement award from the National Women’s Caucus for Art. In 1997, she was awarded the Governor’s Arts Award as Kansas Art Educator of the Year and an honorary degree of doctor of humane letters by Carleton College. She is Judith Harris Murphy Distinguished Professor Emerita at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. She has also served in various leadership capacities at the University’s Spencer Museum of Art and is Consultative Curator of Medieval Art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri

Michael W. Cothren is Professor of Art History at Swarthmore College, where he has also served as Art Department Chair, Coordinator of Medieval Studies, and Divisional Chair of the Humanities. Since arriving at Swarthmore in 1978, he has taught specialized courses on Medieval, Roman, and Islamic art and architecture, as well as seminars on theory and method, but he most enjoys teaching the survey to Swarthmore beginners. His research and publications focus on French Gothic art and architecture, most recently in a book on the stained glass of Beauvais Cathedral entitled Picturing the Celestial City. Michael is consultative curator of medieval stained glass at the Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania. He has served on the board of the International Center of Medieval Art and as President both of the American Committee of the International Corpus Vitrearum and of his local school board. When not teaching or engaged in art historical research, you can find him hiking in the red rocks around Sedona, Arizona.

Don't panic!

I had seen this book in a store and only had a brief time to skim through, but that was enough to convince me to buy the book! The content is excellent; if a little intimidating at first. Scratch a little deeper and you find a comprehensive reference document that gets down and dirty with its subject.

Have to admit I'm still dipping in and out of the book at the moment; but if you want to have a deeper understanding of fundamental concepts in lighting calculations this is your book.
